Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., a leading Chinese steel producer, has successfully completed the initial rolling of bars using the Kocks Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB) in its new SBQ rolling mill. This investment enhances the company’s position and expands its capabilities in producing high-quality specialty steels.
The new Kocks RSB 300++/4, featuring advanced 3-roll technology, has been integrated into the combined SBQ wire rod and bar mill, which has an annual capacity of 600,000 tons. This system rolls bars in coils and pre-cross-sections for the wire rod line, producing bars with diameters ranging from 18 to 50 mm and wire rod with final dimensions from 7.5 to 28 mm.
The supply package also included remote control for stands and guides, enabling operational adjustments from the control stand. Kocks also installed Bamicon Octopus software and hardware, which aids in stand and guide preparation and supports the overall tooling process in the roll shop.
