Japan’s Mitsui & Co., Ltd. will establish a new electrical steel sheet processing facility in Skarbimierz, Poland, the company announced. The new entity, named Polska-Mit Steel sp. z o.o., will begin operations in April 2026. The facility is set to produce 340,000 tons of slitting and sales of electrical steel sheets annually.
Mitsui, which first ventured into electrical steel sheet processing in the Netherlands in 1993, has since expanded its operations to support supply chains for electrical steel sheets used in transformers and electric vehicles (EVs). The company has set up processing facilities in China, the Czech Republic, and Canada, offering processing, stockpiling, and inspection services.
To address the growing global demand for electrical steel sheets, Mitsui has recently invested in expanding its processing capacity in the Netherlands and Canada. The new Polish facility will further bolster Mitsui’s ability to meet the rising demand for EVs in Europe.
