Turkey’s scrap import prices fell this week to USD 365-370 per ton CFR, down from USD 380 per ton CFR last week, partly due to the availability of cheaper billet import offers.
Billet offers from China are now in the range of USD 470-475 per ton CFR for large shipments, with one large cargo recently booked at USD 465 per ton CFR, according to market sources.
Turkish steel exporters are facing weak demand both domestically and internationally, impacted by regional conflicts affecting key export markets and the downward trend in Chinese steel prices.
In response, Turkish long steel exporters have reduced their prices this week. Rebar export offers are now USD 570-580 per ton FOB, while wire rod export prices are USD 585-595 per ton FOB, both down by USD 10 per ton from the previous week.
