Voestalpine expands Indiana site to fulfill long-term deals with truck manufacturers

Voestalpine is expanding its production capacity in Indiana, USA, with a USD 78 mln investment to meet the demands of new long-term contracts with two global truck manufacturers for the North American market.

The expansion will add 15,000 square meters of production space at the Jeffersonville site, doubling the capacity to 80,000 tons for high-quality structural components used in Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks. Production is expected to begin in 2026, and the investment also includes new equipment.

Additionally, Voestalpine recently opened a new production hall in Shelbyville, Kentucky, dedicated to manufacturing customized tube and section components.

According to CEO Herbert Eibensteiner, Voestalpine will transfer its European expertise in rollforming complex special tubes and sections for commercial vehicles to the North American market, further investing in its existing facilities.
