Turkey imported nearly 10 mln tons of scrap in the first half of 2024, marking a 3.6pct increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Turkey’s scrap imports from the US were the largest, totaling around 2.12 mln tons, up 6.6pct YoY. The Netherlands ranked second with 1.31 mln tons, up 21pct, followed by the UK with 1.1 mln tons, a 51pct increase YoY.
In June 2024, Turkey imported 1.3 mln tons of scrap, down 26pct month-on-month but up 8.3pct YoY.
