Metso has signed a contract with Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology Co. Ltd (BSIET) to deliver a traveling grate pelletizing plant for Ruifeng Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. in Tangshan, Hebei province, China.
Metso’s delivery will include engineering and design for the indurating machine and process gas fan systems, as well as proprietary equipment, instrumentation, control systems, and technical training. The three-meter-wide plant will have a capacity of 1.7 mln tons per year, with production expected to begin in 2025.
Ruifeng plans to replace several shaft furnaces with the new pellet production line to reduce carbon emissions and comply with environmental regulations. Metso’s iron ore pelletizing process ensures uniform pellets, high performance, and low investment and operating costs, along with decreased energy consumption and emissions.
