Phu My Flat Steel (PFS), part of Viet Nam Steel Corporation, contracted Danieli Service Vietnam to refurbish the gearbox of its cold rolling mill after a spindle failure affected the gearbox geometry. The refurbishment involved on-site machining using specialized equipment.
To minimize mill downtime, the project was divided into three main phases. First, a laser survey identified the problem and determined corrective actions. Next, a new set of spare gears and bearings, along with custom bushings manufactured in Danieli workshops, were supplied.
The final execution phase, which included on-site gearbox machining to restore geometry and installation of new components, was completed in seven days, including running tests.
