Turkish steel producer Borcelik has chosen international technology group Andritz to supply a combi-line furnace for a new continuous galvanizing and annealing line dedicated to automotive-grade materials.
The line, part of a new cold strip mill complex in Bursa’s Gemlik region, will produce hot-dip galvanized and uncoated strip for automotive exposed panels, with start-up scheduled for Q3 2026. The order’s value remains undisclosed.
Andritz’s supply includes a radiant-tube furnace with annealing and soaking sections, a mixed soaking/slow cooling section, and Differential Rapid Jet Cooling. The furnace can operate in either continuous galvanizing (CGL) or continuous annealing (CAL) modes, with a complete zinc pot bypass for CAL operation. The design also includes space for future expansion to increase capacity or add new steel grades.
Borcelik is a joint venture between Borusan Holding and ArcelorMittal. It is Turkey’s first private and second largest flat steel manufacturer.
