SAIL has awarded Danieli a contract for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art bar mill and a new reheating furnace on a turnkey basis.
Located in Durgapur, India, the new bar mill will incorporate advanced production technologies, including a high-speed delivery system and QTB quenching facilities, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
The selected technologies are designed to reduce operating costs, ensuring a highly efficient and profitable operation. The Danieli Centro Combustion walking-beam reheating furnace will supply billets to the mill at a capacity of 220 tph. Featuring patented MAB burners and the latest PHL firing logic, the furnace will deliver superior heating quality, high efficiency, reduced scale formation and pollutant emissions.
The mill will operate under Danieli Automation’s process control and systems, aligning with Industry 4.0 concepts. The bar mill is scheduled to be commissioned by the second quarter of 2027.
