Turkey imported approximately 951,000 tons of pig iron during the first nine months of 2024, marking a 7pct decline compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Russia retained its position as Turkey’s largest pig iron supplier, delivering around 629,000 tons. Kazakhstan followed with approximately 124,000 tons, while Ukraine supplied 72,400 tons during the period.
In September 2024, Turkey’s pig iron imports totaled about 72,000 tons. While this represented a sharp 42pct YoY decline, it was a significant 120pct increase compared to the previous month.
