Tata Steel has partnered with Danieli to modernize the wire rod line at its Jamshedpur plant. The project included the installation of two advanced shearing units, a crank shear and a rotary shear, along with an electrical and automation package provided by Danieli Automation.
The new shears resolved critical issues such as poor cutting quality, misalignment, and operational challenges like tail-cut carry forward, parking position errors, and leakage problems, which had previously led to production losses and equipment damage.
Executed during a planned 20-day shutdown, the upgrade was completed ahead of schedule by Danieli Service’s mechanical and automation specialists.
