Turkey imported 16.4 mln tons of scrap in the first ten months of 2024, marking a 5.5pct YoY increase, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
The US remained Turkey’s largest scrap supplier during this period, delivering around 3.9 mln tons. The Netherlands followed with 2.22 mln tons, while the UK ranked third at 1.77 mln tons.
In October 2024, Turkey’s scrap imports totaled 1.48 mln tons, a slight 2pct decline YoY but a 2pct increase from the previous month.
