Steel exports to the Unites States decline in Jan-Apr 2023

UAE’s steel exports to the United States declined by nearly 35 pct YoY to 77,236 tons in the first four months of 2023.

In Jan-Apr 2023, UAE’s pipe was the major product exported in the given period to the United States, increased by 17.5 pct YoY to 49,792 tons. The majority of the pipe product imported under the category of carbon & alloy standard pipe with 23,091 tons and carbon and alloy oil country goods with 22,486 tons.

Pipes constituted nearly 64pct of the total steel exports from the UAE to the United States during this period.

Conversely, exports of flat steel witnessed a substantial decline of 76pct YoY, amounting to 9,274 tons, primarily comprising galvanized steel coils and sheets with a volume of 9,109 tons.

Exports of long steel also experienced a significant drop of 54pct YoY, reaching 15,612 tons. Among the long steel exports, heavy sections accounted for approximately 11,655 tons, followed by piling with 3,802 tons.

Additionally, exports of stainless steel witnessed a decline of 14pct YoY, reaching 2,558 tons during the same period. The majority of the stainless steel exports consisted of stainless cold finish bars, totaling 2,169 tons.
