MMK Trading House has begun a major upgrade of its warehouse site in Magnitogorsk to enhance efficiency and improve customer service. The facility supports prompt deliveries from an inventory of over 10,000 steel products, including rebar, angles, channels, hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel, galvanized and polymer-coated steel, welded pipes, and more. Products are shipped via both rail and road transport.
The modernization aligns with MMK Trading House’s strategy to streamline operations by improving service reliability, response times, and availability while reducing reliance on intermediaries.
The warehouse management system overhaul is being developed by AXELOT, a logistics automation specialist. After assessing existing processes, AXELOT recommended measures to eliminate bottlenecks, synchronize inbound traffic with warehouse capacity, optimize space usage, and introduce a bin location system for improved inventory tracking. Plans also include a new site development to accommodate increased turnover.
Key improvements focus on minimizing disruptions such as vehicle queues, loading delays, and inefficient warehouse transfers. The introduction of AXELOT’s yard management system will optimize vehicle flow, balance inbound and outbound workloads, and separate daytime and nighttime operations. A flexible 3/3 shift system with night shifts has been proposed to improve efficiency.
The ongoing modernization is expected to significantly enhance warehouse and yard management, leading to a more efficient technological cycle at MMK Trading House.
