    Global stainless steel production rises 7pct in 2024 YoY

    Global stainless steel production rose 7pct YoY in 2024, reaching 62.6 mln tons, according to the latest data from the World Stainless Association (Worldstainless).

    China maintained its position as the world’s largest producer, with output climbing 7.5pct to 39.44 mln tons. In Asia, excluding China and South Korea, production increased by 6.4pct to 7.32 mln tons.

    European production grew modestly by 1.5pct to 6.08 mln tons, while the United States saw a stronger rise of nearly 7pct, reaching 1.95 mln tons.

    Output from other regions, including Brazil, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, and Indonesia, rose collectively by 9.2pct, totaling 7.82 mln tons. Worldstainless, formerly known as the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), is a global body representing leading stainless steel producers worldwide.
