Marcegaglia has partnered with Fives to install Eyeron, an advanced digital quality management system, at its Ravenna plant in Italy.
Developed by Fives, Eyeron monitors every stage of steel production in real time, tracking process steps, quality events, and production data to boost efficiency and ensure consistent product quality. The upgrade supports Marcegaglia’s goal of aligning quality control with diverse customer requirements.
The project began with a pilot in 2024, enabling real-time quality alarms and allowing operators to promptly correct deviations, improving first-pass yield. It now enters its second phase, which focuses on full-scale data collection, quality rule enforcement, and dashboard customization for centralized plant monitoring.
This data-driven approach helps assess product compliance with customer specifications and suggests corrective actions to increase the share of qualified products. The system also enables remote access to quality insights from any device.
Eyeron marks the second major digital innovation by Fives at the Ravenna plant, following the successful deployment of SmartLine, an automated coil processing control system, on four galvanizing lines since 2021.
