SAIL’s crude steel output grew 8 pct in Q1 FY24 YoY

India’s Steel Authority of India (SAIL), a state-owned company under the Ministry of Steel, has announced a notable 8 pct YoY growth in its crude steel production. During the first quarter of FY’24, SAIL produced 4.667 mln tons of crude steel.

Furthermore, the company reported a 7 pct YoY increase in hot metal output, reaching 5.037 mln tons, and an 8 pct growth in the production of saleable steel, reaching 4.405 mln tons for the April-June period.

SAIL achieved its highest-ever sales volume in the first quarter, with a remarkable 24 pct YoY rise. The company successfully sold 3.9 mln tons of steel during this period.

As one of India’s top three steel-producing companies, SAIL maintains an annual production capacity of approximately 20 mln tons.
