ArcelorMittal Poland, a leading European high-speed rail producer, is manufacturing premium-quality rails at its Dabrowa Gornicza site using Danieli’s RH2 rail-hardening technology. The advanced system ensures homogeneous mechanical properties along the entire rail length, meeting both European and American standards.
Rails of up to 128 meters (120 meters commercial) with linear weights between 45 and 68 kg/m and hardness exceeding 400 HB are produced at a rate of 22.5 rails per hour.
Developed at Danieli’s Research Center in Buttrio, Italy, the RH2 system uses a unique head treatment and foot cooling process. Unlike conventional systems, it requires no air blowers or additional heating for head/tail equalization, resulting in 45pct lower production costs and 35pct less energy consumption.
The process is fully automated through a dedicated PLC and HMI system by Danieli Automation, ensuring precise control and consistent quality. With RH2, ArcelorMittal Poland delivers high-performance, low-emission rails using clean quenching technology, combining technical excellence with environmental responsibility.
