Turkey’s scrap import prices held steady this week at USD 340-345 per ton CFR as domestic steel mills prioritized boosting finished steel sales.
Scrap buying activity remained subdued, with market participants noting that mills currently hold sufficient scrap inventories while sluggish finished steel sales kept sentiment cautious.
Activity is expected to pick up next week, but much will depend on whether finished steel demand improves in both domestic and export markets.
Turkish export offers were mostly stable, with rebar quoted at USD 540-550 per ton FOB and wire rod at USD 555-565 per ton FOB. However, market sources said several mills are prepared to trim prices by USD 5-10 per ton to stimulate sales.
