The UK has extended its anti-dumping duty on wire rod originating from China for a further five years, with the measure now set to remain in place until January 28, 2031.
The decision, published by the UK government on September 10, follows an expiry review by the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA). The existing duty rates have been maintained, while the description of goods covered by the measure has been revised.
Under the revised measure, Chinese wire rod supplied by Valin Group is subject to a 7.9pct anti-dumping duty, while a residual duty of 24.0pct applies to all other Chinese exporters.
The TRA recommended maintaining the existing duty rates after concluding that it was not appropriate to recalculate the anti-dumping amount. It also recommended applying the measure to all goods covered by the review, as no evidence was submitted to support excluding any products.
The goods covered by the measure are imported under the following UK commodity codes: 72131000, 72132000, 72139110, 72139120, 72139141, 72139149, 72139170, 72139190, 72139910, 72139990, 72271000, 72272000, 72279010, 72279050 and 72279095.
The revised measure applies from January 28, 2026, the date on which the original measure would have expired. The anti-dumping duty will cease to apply on January 28, 2031, unless a further expiry review is initiated, the notice said.
