Tata Steel begins production from new galvanizing line at Kalinganagar plant

Tata Steel Kalinganagar has produced its first batch of galvanized coils from the newly commissioned Continuous Galvanizing Line-1 (CGL-1) at its cold rolling mill complex, marking a key milestone in the company’s Phase II expansion.

The state-of-the-art line is equipped with advanced technology, including a third-generation air-knife with magnetic stabilizer, oxidation chamber, and premium secondary coatings. These features enable the production of high-quality coated Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) for automotive and appliance applications, ensuring consistency and performance.

Part of a broader expansion that raised the plant’s capacity from 3 to 8 mln tons per annum, the CGL-1 complements other recently commissioned facilities such as a pellet plant, coke plant, and India’s largest blast furnace, each integrating advanced and sustainable technologies.

As one of India’s most modern integrated steel plants, Tata Steel Kalinganagar supplies critical sectors including automotive, defence, infrastructure, engineering, oil & gas, renewable energy, and shipbuilding.
