British Steel has delivered over 2,000 tons of structural sections for the construction of Sumitomo Electric’s high-voltage cable factory at the Port of Nigg in the Scottish Highlands.
The steel was supplied to BHC, which fabricated and erected the structures on-site. BHC is also handling metal decking, concrete topping, cladding, and applying fire-protection coatings to the steel before installation.
The facility, due to open in 2026, will produce subsea power cables for offshore wind farms and grid connections, supporting Scotland’s Net-Zero 2045 and the UK’s Net-Zero 2050 targets.
