UAE-based Rhino Steel has produced the first aluzinc coils at its new coating line in Umm Al Quwain Industrial City.
In 2023, Rhino Steel, along with three other steelmakers, announced plans to transform 1.4 mln square feet of land in the industrial city into a dedicated metal zone. At the time, Rhino Steel revealed a USD 30 mln investment to establish the Middle East’s first fully automated continuous coating line, designed to produce 250,000 tons of aluzinc coils annually.
Other projects in the zone include CIM Steel Industry’s advanced cold rolling mill complex with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, Metal Care Center Factory LLC’s steel melt shop and long products rolling mill (200,000 tons annually), and Aziz Steel’s roll-forming lines for pipes and tubes, with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year.
