Tenaris announced a technical milestone in offshore Brazil with the successful use of corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) tubulars featuring its Dopeless technology in two wells at the Buzios and Jubarte fields.
Each well involved the installation of over 400 pipes made of Superduplex 25Cr steel with TenarisHydril Blue connections and Dopeless coating, a mill-applied multifunctional layer that reduces handling, improves safety and efficiency, and lowers environmental impact.
CRA materials meet the demanding corrosion-resistance standards of Brazil’s Pre-Salt, but typically carry higher risks of galling during make-up, slowing operations. Dopeless technology provides consistent lubrication that minimizes galling and enhances reliability.
According to Tenaris, the application enabled running in stands of three, cutting installation times by 50pct while ensuring safe, efficient deployment.
