Tata Steel posts lower production figures, strong deliveries in Q1 FY24

Tata Steel witnessed a decline in consolidated production, reaching 7.08 mln tons in the first quarter of FY24, compared to 7.67 mln tons in the same period of the previous financial year, according to a statement by the company. However, consolidated deliveries increased by 7.97pct to 7.04 mln tons from 6.52 mln tons in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

In India, Tata Steel India’s production amounted to 5.01 mln tons, a rise from 4.92 mln tons in the year-ago quarter. Deliveries in India also showed growth, reaching 4.80 mln tons compared to 4.07 mln tons in the same period last year.

Tata Steel Europe experienced a decline in production, falling to 1.81 mln tons from 2.44 mln tons in April-June FY23. Deliveries in Europe also decreased, reaching 1.97 mln tons compared to 2.14 mln tons in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company attributed this decline to the planned relining of BF6 at Tata Steel Netherlands, which commenced in April.

In Thailand, Tata Steel Thailand’s production decreased to 0.26 mln tons, down from 0.31 mln tons in the preceding fiscal year’s Q1. Deliveries in Thailand also reduced to 0.27 mln tons from 0.31 mln tons in the year-ago quarter.
