Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), India’s largest stainless steel producer, has awarded Greenzo Energy India Limited a contract to supply, erect, install, and commission an advanced electrolyser-based green hydrogen plant at its Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur, Odisha.
The facility is designed to produce 472,409 kg of green hydrogen annually, with an initial capacity of 5.26 mln Nm3 per year. Delivery is expected within six months of signing. The hydrogen will be used in key stainless steel processes such as the bright annealing line and bell furnace, helping JSL cut emissions and accelerate its transition to green steel.
The project marks a strategic step in JSL’s decarbonization journey, aligning with global ESG benchmarks and India’s net-zero targets. It also supports the country’s broader drive to build hydrogen infrastructure and promote adoption across energy-intensive industries.
As India’s largest stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless is expanding its annual melt capacity to 4.2 mln tons by FY27. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities across India, Spain, and Indonesia, along with a global network spanning 12 countries. Its product portfolio includes slabs, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
