Iran exported 1.44 mln tons of finished steel products in the first five months of the Iranian year to August 22, down 7pct YoY, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Exports of long steel products fell 26pct YoY to 1.04 mln tons, driven by a 31pct drop in rebar shipments to 849,000 tons. By contrast, flat steel exports jumped to 410,000 tons, up sharply from 141,000 tons a year earlier.
In semi-finished steel, exports rose 25pct in volume to 3.16 mln tons, valued at USD 1.31 bln, up 10pct YoY.
Meanwhile, exports of steelmaking raw materials, including sponge iron, pellets, and concentrates, reached 11.12 mln tons over April-August, a surge of more than 38pct YoY, ISPA data showed.
