Voestalpine’s unit to supply guard rails for highway project in Czech Republic

The Voestalpine Group’s Metal Forming Division, a leading supplier of innovative vehicle restraint systems based in Krems, Austria, is making Europe’s roads safer.
In the largest individual project in its road safety business segment to date, Voestalpine is supplying a total of 100 kilometers of guard rails for use in expanding and modernizing the D4 highway in the Czech Republic, and managing the entire project through to installation.
The first major delivery has recently been made, and completion is scheduled for fall 2024.
Once finished, the Dalnice 4 highway (D4) connecting Prague to southern Bohemia will have an overall length of around 86 kilometers. Voestalpine will install around 2,300 tons of steel in the form of vehicle restraint systems for a new 32-kilometer stretch of the highway and to upgrade another 16 kilometers of this road link.
This is the first order in the Czech Republic in which Voestalpine has also been charged with managing the entire project.
Voestalpine’s Metal Forming Division supplies highly refined sections, tubes and precision strip steel products as well as for ready-to-install system components made of pressed, stamped and roll-formed parts.
