Tenaris has secured a major contract to supply casing, tubing, and line pipe for the Trion deepwater oil project in the Perdido Fold Belt, around 180 km off Mexico’s coast. The company will also provide coatings for bends, flowlines, and risers as part of the subsea infrastructure.
Developed by Woodside Petroleo Operaciones de Mexico (60pct) in partnership with Pemex (40pct), Trion marks Mexico’s first deepwater oil project. Located at a depth of 2,500 meters, it is expected to begin production in 2028 with a planned capacity of 100,000 barrels per day.
Under its Rig Direct service model, Tenaris will deliver 12,000 tons of casing and tubing, including 1,600 tons of Super 13 Chrome steel, and 16,000 tons of line pipe for flowlines and risers. The scope includes TenarisShawcor coatings such as Marine 5-Layer Syntactic, Solid Polypropylene, and Fusion Bonded Epoxy systems for flow assurance and corrosion protection.
