Pakistan imported 359,759 tons of steel scrap in September 2025, up 30pct YoY from 276,486 tons in the same month last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Month-on-month, scrap imports also grew by 15.2pct, reflecting improved sentiment in the long steel market after a sluggish period caused by weak economic growth and muted rebar demand.
During the first nine months of 2025, Pakistan’s total scrap imports reached 2.5 mln tons, up 12.4pct compared with the same period last year.
