Jindal Steel Ltd. (formerly Jindal Steel and Power Ltd.) has significantly expanded its manufacturing capabilities at its Angul plant in Odisha, tripling its heat-treated plate capacity from 20,000 tons per month to 60,000 tons per month, equivalent to about 700,000 tons per year, making it the largest heat-treatment producer in India, the company said.
The upgraded facilities now support a full range of Furnace Normalised (FN) and Quenched & Tempered (Q&T) products. The plant can process plates from 6 mm to 200 mm thick and up to 5 meters wide, using advanced DUBONG technology designed to ensure precise, uniform temperature control and consistent mechanical properties.
The enhancements allow Jindal Steel to produce high-end grades previously imported into India. The expanded product portfolio includes ultra-high-strength Q&T steels (2,000 MPa and above), abrasion-resistant grades exceeding 600 BHN, defence-grade ballistic steels for armoured vehicles, and tool, die, and alloy steels requiring critical heat-treatment simulation.
Jindal Steel Ltd. is a major Indian steel, mining, and infrastructure company operating integrated plants in Angul, Raigarh, and Patratu, producing a broad range of products including sponge iron, rebars, wire rod, plates, HRC, beams, sections, and rails, including head-hardened rails.
