Italian special steelmaker ABS Acciaierie Bertoli Safau, part of the Danieli Group, has opened a new service center in Varnamo, Sweden, strengthening its presence in the Nordic market.
The facility covers a 25,000-square-meter site, including a 5,500-square-meter service center. It provides steel storage, cutting services, just-in-time logistics and metallurgical consulting through ABS’s ACM research center.
The center is aimed at small and medium-sized workshops, distributors and OEMs, allowing them to purchase smaller lots and cut-to-size material directly from ABS. The facility was developed in around 10 months in cooperation with Aspehof Fastigheter.
The service center will stock special long steel products including hot-rolled round and square bars, turned, cold-drawn and ground bars, and forged products. Grades include structural, case-hardening, quenched and tempered, microalloyed and free-cutting steels, with products available in diameters of around 20-300 mm.
ABS was established in 1988 through the merger of Officine Bertoli and Safau and is the steelmaking division of the Danieli Group. The company produces special long steel products using a scrap-based production process.
