Abul Khair Steel Limited (BWRM), part of the Abul Khair Group, has commenced production at its new high-capacity rolling mill in Sitakunda, Chattogram. Built by SMS group, the mill is designed to produce 1.6 mln tons of deformed bars annually, supporting Bangladesh’s growing construction and infrastructure needs.
The facility is the world’s fastest rebar mill, achieving production speeds of up to 55.04 meters per second for 10mm deformed bars. It produces rebars ranging from 8-40mm in diameter.
Supplied entirely by SMS group, the mill integrates advanced, energy-efficient technologies, including the ECOFlame+ low-NOx burner and an Elotherm induction furnace that recovers billet heat losses to maximize thermal efficiency.
The EBROS endless bar rolling system boosts productivity and material yield, while MEERdrive blocks ensure flexibility and consistent quality with lower maintenance needs. The HSD (High-Speed Delivery) system enables precise, maintenance-free rebar delivery, enhancing operational reliability.
With these innovations, Abul Khair Steel has reduced both capital and operating costs, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable, high-efficiency steel production in Bangladesh.
