AGSI and SEE Holding partner to promote sustainable construction

SEE Holding, the parent company of The Sustainable City brand, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI) to advance sustainable construction practices in the region. The collaboration focuses on integrating low-carbon steel into future projects, promoting circular economy practices like recycling and repurposing steel to reduce waste and environmental impact.

The MoU was signed at the SEE Institute, the region’s first operational net-zero emissions building, highlighting the shared commitment to environmental responsibility.

The collaboration will also prioritize research and development (R&D) to innovate construction techniques, enhance energy efficiency, and reduce embodied emissions. Additionally, SEE Holding and AGSI will introduce training programs for architects and engineers to raise awareness of low-carbon steel benefits and drive its adoption across the sector.

Asam Hussain, CEO of AGSI, noted: “This partnership accelerates decarbonization in construction, embedding demand for low-carbon materials while advancing sustainability and delivering positive economic and social impact.”

AGSI has an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons of billet, 360,000 tons of rebar, and 240,000 tons of light and medium sections.
