AQS earns Dutch certification for rebar exports

Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) has achieved a major milestone with the European certification for its B500B rebar, in compliance with the technical requirements of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The certification was issued by KIWA Netherlands, a leading Dutch accreditation body, the company said in a statement.

This achievement follows a rigorous testing and evaluation process, during which AQS’s rebar met the BRL 0501 technical guideline standards. The certification officially authorizes AQS to export its rebar products to the Dutch market, enhancing their competitiveness across Europe. These products feature a distinctive rib pattern and carry the AQS logo.

The recognition underscores AQS’s commitment to international quality standards. Its production and quality systems are subject to regular audits by European accreditation authorities, ensuring consistent product performance and reliability.

The certification is the result of close coordination between AQS’s technical and administrative teams and is part of a broader strategic plan to meet European export requirements.

Founded in 2013 as a joint venture between Qatar Steel International (49pct) and Algerian stakeholders (51pct), AQS is a leading player in the region’s steel industry. Its facilities include a 2.5 mln tons per year Midrex DRI plant, two EAF melt shops with a combined annual capacity of 2.2 mln tons, and three rolling mills producing up to 2 mln tons of rebars and wire rods annually.
