Global steelmaker ArcelorMittal has expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to accelerate the use of cloud computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence across its global operations.
Under the expanded partnership, Microsoft Azure will become ArcelorMittal’s primary cloud computing platform and form the foundation of its “Cloud First, Data Centric” strategy. The steelmaker plans to modernize core IT systems, consolidate data and deploy AI-powered solutions across its global systems and business processes.
ArcelorMittal will integrate Microsoft Fabric, Purview and Foundry alongside other Azure infrastructure services. The company expects the technologies to accelerate digital innovation, strengthen cybersecurity and system reliability, improve operational efficiency and reduce dependence on legacy IT systems.
ArcelorMittal Chief Information Officer Nik Puri said the expanded collaboration will help embed data and AI more deeply into the company’s IT operations, enabling greater efficiency and faster decision-making as the steelmaker advances its broader digital transformation.
ArcelorMittal operates primary steelmaking facilities in 14 countries. In 2025, the group produced 55.6 mln tons of crude steel and 48.8 mln tons of iron ore.
