ArcelorMittal JV to commission new cold strip mill in Changzhou

ArcelorMittal Jinxi New Materials (Changzhou), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and China Oriental Group, has awarded Danieli a contract to supply a six-stand cold-strip mill for its plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.

Part of the New Energy Magnetic Material (NEMM) project, the mill will produce high-grade non-oriented silicon steel for electric vehicle applications. Designed for ultra-thin gauges, high precision, and strict temperature control, it will feature small workroll diameters, large-stroke shifting, and advanced lubrication systems to improve rigidity, control strip shape, reduce roll changes, and minimize breakages.

Additional features include precision strip cleaning, selective cooling for easier maintenance, and a drive shaft system to extend service life. The mill is scheduled to begin operations in 24 months.
