Arvedi AST, a leading European stainless steel producer, has selected Fives to upgrade its cold annealing and pickling line to enhance productivity and meet growing demand in the food, chemical, construction, and automotive sectors.
To overcome current furnace limitations and improve process flow, Fives will install the CELES EcoTransFlux transverse flux induction heater. This compact system delivers rapid, high-temperature heating, even for non-magnetic steels, boosting output by over 16pct for select products. It also significantly reduces NOx and CO2 emissions, supporting Arvedi’s sustainability goals.
Productivity gains will be further enhanced by Virtuo-L, a predictive digital solution that optimizes thermal transitions in the furnace. It automatically adjusts heating power to improve consistency, lower gas use, and cut coil rejections by over 5pct.
An AI-based cooling model will also be introduced to precisely control strip cooling rates, improving product quality and energy efficiency. This upgrade complements Arvedi AST’s ongoing digitalization strategy, which includes Fives’ Eyeron, an advanced quality management system already deployed across the integrated plant.
