ASAS Steel renews CARES EPD certification for rebar

UAE-based steel producer ASAS Steel FZC has successfully renewed its CARES Third-Party Verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for carbon steel reinforcing bars, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental transparency.

The renewed certification, CARES EPD No. 0070, is valid until May 14, 2029, and covers the full lifecycle assessment of ASAS Steel’s reinforcing bar products, from raw material sourcing and manufacturing through end-of-life recycling and disposal scenarios. The certification was independently verified in accordance with EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2:2019 standards.

The EPD applies to carbon steel reinforcing bars manufactured at ASAS Steel’s facility in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah. According to the certification, the company produces rebar using billets sourced from electric arc furnace (EAF), direct reduced iron (DRI) and blast furnace production routes, with the finished products manufactured through a hot-rolling process.

ASAS Steel said the re-certification reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible manufacturing, sustainability and transparency across its operations. The independently verified EPD provides environmental performance data for customers, contractors and project developers seeking sustainable construction materials.

ASAS Steel (formerly Hamriyah Steel) is a UAE-based rebar producer located in the Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah. The company has an annual production capacity of 1 mln tons of rebar.
