Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group, has issued the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC) to SMS Group for the successful completion of its Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization (VOD) plant in Fuzhou.
The VOD system is a key part of Baosteel Desheng’s expansion in stainless steel production, boosting capacity and ensuring high-quality specialty steels through advanced secondary metallurgical processes. The facility has an annual capacity of 417,000 tons.
Designed to meet stringent high-purity steel production requirements, the SMS-supplied VOD system can process 120 tons per heat, efficiently removing carbon and impurities to enhance steel quality. This upgrade enables Baosteel Desheng to produce lower-impurity steel, meeting rising demand in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and construction.
