Beco Steel to expand into rebar production

Pakistan’s Beco Steel Limited has announced plans to diversify into rebar production, according to a filing with the stock exchange.

The company will install a new furnace and a continuous casting mill, with the facility designed to produce up to 72,000 tons of rebars annually. Beco Steel, which currently manufactures billets and merchant bars, said the move aligns with its long-term growth strategy and expectations of rising domestic steel demand.

As part of the expansion, the company will also set up a 5 MW solar power plant to improve cost efficiency and support sustainability goals.

Beco Steel confirmed that the required land for the project has already been secured, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2026.

Lahore-based Beco Steel Limited is a public limited company incorporated in Pakistan in 1984. The company’s annual melting capacity is 99,400 tons and rerolling capacity is 99,000 tons per annum. The company produces billets, angles, channels, round and square bars.
