Pakistan’s Beco Steel Limited has signed an agreement with a renewable energy solutions provider to install a 2-megawatt (MW) solar power generation system at its Badami Bagh, Lahore plant, according to a stock exchange filing.
The project, with a capital expenditure of around PKR 121 mln (USD 0.42 mln), is expected to deliver annual energy cost savings of approximately PKR 129.65 mln (USD 0.45 mln).
Beco Steel said the investment will help lower production costs, boost operational efficiency, and reduce the company’s carbon footprint, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
Lahore-based Beco Steel Limited is a public limited company incorporated in Pakistan in 1984. The company’s annual melting capacity is 99,400 tons and rerolling capacity is 99,000 tons per annum. The company produces billets, angles, channels, round and square bars.
