Beijing reviews extension of AD measures on certain stainless steel imports

China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that it will conduct a one-year sunset review investigation of the anti-dumping measures on imports of stainless steel billet and hot-rolled stainless steel from the EU, the UK, South Korea, and Indonesia, following a request from the domestic industry. The investigation is expected to conclude by July 23, 2025.

Beijing imposed anti-dumping duties ranging from 18.1pct to 103.1pct on stainless steel products from the EU, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia starting July 23, 2019, for a five-year period. The review, prompted by an April request from several Chinese stainless steel mills, including state-owned Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel, aims to extend the current measures for another five years.

Anti-dumping measures on stainless steel products from Japan will expire, the Ministry stated. The primary objective of this review is to determine whether terminating the anti-dumping measures on stainless steel imports from these regions could lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping and harm to the domestic industry.
