Turkey imported 2.9 mln tons of billets in the first eight months of 2025, a 58pct YoY increase, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
Malaysia was the largest supplier during the period, delivering around 700,000 tons, followed by Russia with 644,000 tons and China with 521,300 tons.
In August alone, billet imports totaled 378,200 tons, up 39pct from a year earlier but 17pct lower compared to July.
