British Steel announced that production has resumed at its Teesside beam mill following the successful completion of its annual zero-harm summer maintenance programme.
The 16-day maintenance campaign involved extensive planned work, supported by a team of in-house staff and over 180 contractors. According to the company, the team carried out a significant volume of improvements and upgrades.
The largest project focused on repairing the refractory wall of the mill’s re-heat furnace, with teams working around the clock in 24-hour shifts to complete the task efficiently.
