British Steel has supplied 71 ton of 56E1 profile rail to the Rother Valley Railway, a heritage initiative aimed at reconnecting the missing rail link between Bodiam and Robertsbridge in East Sussex.
Delivery was made via a HIAB crane, which also assisted with moving stock rails to site, the company said.
The project, run entirely by volunteers, seeks to restore the connection between the Kent & East Sussex Railway and the Network Rail main line at Robertsbridge. Once complete, the 3.5-mile section will link with the Kent & East Sussex line at Bodiam, enabling through running over 14 miles of track.
