Canada drops anti-dumping probe against Borcelik

Canada has officially terminated its anti-dumping investigation into imports of corrosion-resistant steel sheet from Turkish producer Borcelik Celik Sanayi Ticaret, according to a notice issued by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The CBSA concluded that Borcelik’s exports were not dumped, leading to the cancellation of the probe. The product in question includes corrosion-resistant steel in coils or cut lengths, with thicknesses up to 4.267 mm and widths up to 1,828.8 mm, with or without surface treatments such as passivation or anti-fingerprint coatings.

Earlier this year, the CBSA had imposed provisional anti-dumping duties of 22.9pct on Borcelik’s shipments. With the termination of the investigation, all provisional duties collected since the preliminary decision will be refunded to importers, and no further duties will be applied.

Borcelik, a joint venture between Borusan Holding and ArcelorMittal, is Turkey’s first private and second-largest flat steel producer, with an annual capacity of 1.5 mln tons of cold-rolled and coated steel products.
