Celsa to modernize EAF with new EBT cleaning system

Celsa France has chosen Sarralle to supply and implement a new EBT (Eccentric Bottom Tapping) cleaning system as part of the upgrade of its 175-ton Electric Arc Furnace. The solution introduces a fully automated device that removes the need for manual intervention in a critical area of the furnace, improving safety, reducing downtime, and increasing overall efficiency.

Installed beneath the furnace, the telescopic motorized system is equipped with a pneumatic-driven rotating head that delivers precise and consistent cleaning of refractory EBT rings. The design integrates with existing hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, supported by new valve stands and electrical system upgrades, including I/O cabinets, local control panels, and PLC/SCADA software enhancements.

All components are pre-assembled and tested at Sarralle’s workshops before delivery. On-site activities such as unloading, installation, commissioning, and testing are performed under the supervision of Sarralle’s technical team, working closely with Celsa France.

The project scope covers the complete mechanical system, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, and electrical and automation upgrades, ensuring a safer and more efficient EAF operation.
