Corinth Pipeworks wins major pipeline contracts for Italian gas infrastructure project

Corinth Pipeworks has secured multiple contracts from Italian energy company Snam to manufacture and supply over 180 km of pipeline for the Adriatica project, one of Italy’s largest gas infrastructure developments in the past decade.

The contracts cover the production of 48-inch HSAW (Helical Submerged Arc Welded) pipes and 56-inch LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded) pipes using L450ME grade steel. All pipes are certified for up to 100pct hydrogen transport. Manufacturing, internal epoxy lining for flow efficiency, and external three-layer polyethylene anti-corrosion coating are carried out at Corinth Pipeworks’ facilities in Thisvi, Greece.

The awards, supported by Corinth Pipeworks’ Italian partner Pipex, highlight the companies’ ongoing collaboration with Snam. The project also leverages Corinth’s expertise in hydrogen-ready pipeline technology and its advanced in-house testing capabilities.

Beyond standard ASME B31.12 certification, the qualification program includes cutting-edge methods such as elastic-plastic fracture mechanics (rising-load) and slow strain rate tensile testing. These ensure the pipelines meet the evolving needs of future energy systems while maintaining high performance under real high-pressure gas conditions.

Corinth Pipeworks, a division of Cenergy Holdings, is a supplier of high quality steel pipes for the energy and construction markets. The company’s plant is located in Thisvi, Viotia, Greece with an annual production capacity of 1 mln tons.
