Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) has reduced domestic prices for selected flat steel products for July 2026 deliveries, while increasing prices for several contract products for the third quarter.
For July shipments, CSC lowered prices for HRC rerolling and commercial grades, steel plates, and CRC commercial quality products by TWD 300 (USD 9.5) per ton. Prices for electro-galvanized steel, hot-dip galvanized steel and electrical steel remained unchanged.
For third-quarter deliveries, the company increased prices for steel plates, including shipbuilding plates, A36/SS400 grades and SM570 series products, as well as bars and wire rods, by TWD 1,000 (USD 32) per ton. Prices for medium- and high-carbon steel grades, tool steel grades in HRC, plate and CRC products, and drum-making grades were also raised by TWD 1,000 (USD 32) per ton. Automotive steel grades increased by TWD 500 (USD 16) per ton.
CSC said the pricing decision reflects diverging market conditions. While domestic spot prices have recently softened in line with corrections in Asian steel markets, production costs remain elevated due to firm raw material prices.
The company noted that global steel markets continue to receive support from supply-side constraints, including China’s crude steel production controls and lower steel exports, as well as production disruptions in Iran. Iron ore prices have remained above USD 100 per ton, while metallurgical coal prices have hovered around USD 240 per ton.
CSC added that steel prices in the United States and Europe have remained relatively strong, although Asian markets have shown mixed trends. The company said monthly prices were adjusted to remain competitive in the spot market, while quarterly contract prices were increased to reflect higher production costs.
